This Sunday we’ll begin a new topical sermon series. Those of you who have been at RPC for a few years might actually say we’re going to resume an old sermon series. For the next several weeks, I’m going to be preaching a series called “Bumper Sticker Theology.”
Bumper Sticker Theology is sermon series that was first preached in 2013 at RPC. The concept is to take a popular bumper sticker, understanding it to be an expression of our culture, and use the Bible to understand how we ought to respond to this cultural statement.
In 2013 we assessed seven bumper stickers. They included:
1. Coexist
2. We’re spending our children’s inheritance
3. Please be patient, God isn’t done with me yet
4. He must increase, I must decrease
5. The Mystery Spot
6. Keep Tahoe Blue
7. Christianity is not a religion, it’s a relationship
Now, in 2015, we’ll assess some more bumper stickers. What follows are the bumper stickers which are presently under consideration and will likely be used in our sermon series.
1. God Bless America
2. Metal Mulisha
3. Driver Carries No Cash
4. Lights On For Safety
The sticker for this Sunday, June 28, will be “How’s My Driving? Call 1-877-55-SAFE1” (also attached to this email). Our sermon text for this Sunday will be Psalm 11:4-7.
