We will begin a new preaching series this coming Lord’s Day entitled, “The Apostles’ Creed.” Each week our sermon text will be a passage from the Bible that corresponds to one of the statements made in the creed. This week, our sermon text is Mark 16:16 and the portion of the creed that we’ll be considering is the very first two words, “I believe…”
As you prepare for this sermon, consider the following questions:
What is belief? How does belief interact with faith? Are these two terms synonymous?
Why is it important to know what you believe?
What purpose(s) do creeds serve. How are we supposed to understand them? What is the relationship between creeds, which man wrote, and the Bible, which God wrote?
What are the origins of the Apostles’ Creed? Did the apostles write it?
